The [[National Institute of Economic and Social Research]] reported that increasing energy bills have been the cause of double-digit inflation on the [[British Isles]] due to a disruption of energy sales from [[Eastern Europe]]. The energy crisis in the U.K. gave rise to a new societal trend, known as the 'Don't Pay Movement'. With 170,000 signatories the group expects to grow to one million members, and pledges to cancel direct debit payments to energy companies on Oct. 1 when household energy bills are expected to increase by 80%.
